Sleeping with Strangers is a montage of recorded material obtained while I spent several nights sleeping on Omegle.com, a website which randomly assigns strangers to stream each other’s webcam feeds.

By falling asleep on the site, I broadcasted the traditionally intimate act of sleeping for the entirety of the cyber-world to witness. Presenting myself in a passive state of sleep stood as an invitation for interaction, occasionally resulting in visual and verbal assault. What the subjects of my performance did not know, however, is that as I slept, I recorded each interaction that occurred using screen capture technology. Every moment was documented.

This project was made in an effort to explore the complex relationships between internet and identity, as well as to promote discussion of privacy and responsibility.
